This past Wednesday night I spoke at Grace United Family Church in Mechanicsville, VA.
I went over basic statistics of what is happening in the world. I gave them a “Worst Case Scenario” designed to wake them up. (All statistics vary based on who you are talking to and what their “spin” is in it.)
In the very beginning, I said, “Roughly 33% of the world claims to be Christian. But in reality, only 10.7% are thought to be true believers.”
After letting that sink in, I asked a senior in high school, “We’ve been at the Great Commission for 2,000 years since Christ came, and 4,000 years since it was given to Abraham. What kind of a grade would you give the church.”
Without hesitation, he said, “An F.”
In some ways, it is so true. We were told to reach the world 2,000 years ago by our Lord and we have basically only reached 1 out of every 10 people on the face of the earth.
We are very preoccupied with what we want and not with what God wants.
